Career Counseling

Meet with a career counselor to assess your interests, values, skills, and personality type in order to discover satisfying careers for you.

Explore Your Career Options

FOCUS-2 is a self-guided online career assessment tool that helps you discover your interests,
personality preferences, values, skills, and favorite leisure activities and match them with occupations
and academic majors. You can also research over 1,200 careers, create an online career portfolio, and
keep track of careers and majors that appeal to you for future consideration. You can work at your
own pace or receive additional help from a career services staff member

Step 1 | Register and create an account

The access code = Dragon
Status = HCC Student (number of credits to date); community member
Your Username: Choose a username (such as your email or first and last name)
Your Password: Choose a password you will easily remember

Step 2 | Revisit FOCUS-2

Revisit FOCUS-2 using the Login Portal anytime and enter your username and password to continue to use FOCUS-2, anytime, anywhere

Step 3 |Learn Something About Yourself

Complete all items under "Self-Assessment." Once you have completed this section, view a list of occupations that match your personal characteristics and identify those that interest you.

Step 4 | Research Any Career

In the "Explore the Possibilities" section, search over 1,200 occupations by name or industry. Most importantly, within this section, be sure to explore the "What Can I Do With a Major In...?" section.

Step 5 | Connect Yourself to Resources

Check out additional career resources, including Handshake and Career Coach by scheduling an appointment with a career services professional to further discuss your FOCUS-2 results.
